All that work and she never gets around to the fact that Gen-X kids do more charitable work and give more to charity than any previous generation. For a group that she seems to think is so disaffected, we sure as hell have done a lot to fix the world that created the culture that she hates – the world and culture the boomers left us. Maybe we did it while bathed and fully clothed, but can you blame us?
But Obama was pretty inspirational. That part I agree with.

“…Gen-X kids do more charitable work and give more to charity than any previous generation.”
Many Gen X kids do volunteer for charitable work, perhaps more than the babybusters. Some give more generously to charity than perhaps the babybusters. But they don’t top the 50 and older group.
For example I know quite well a middle-aged couple that give upwards of $7,000 to charity and who volunteer more than a dozen hours a week. And they are not atypical.
Part of the reason is that the over 50 crowd has more income to give to charity and more time. Many are not paying a mortgage or rent. Others have no children to support. They have most of the “toys” that younger folks are still acquiring.
Even if we go to percentages instead of actual dollars the over 50s give more to charity than those younger.
